BEING
A SECRET STALKER OF GOD
(A Biblical Perspective by Al Thomas)
The Christian walk is the ultimate waste if it is only a learning
process
and not applied... (Romans 2:13 and James
1:22) To know the Bible
is not enough, true
victory only comes by doing… and then great rewards
await you:
A.
HAPPY ARE YOU IF… The Lord Jesus, after washing His
disciples feet said, “I have given you an example; you
are to do as I have done for you. A servant is not greater than
his
master, nor a messenger than the one who sent him. (And here it
is…) If you know this, happy are you if you act upon
it” (John
13: 15-17). This statement, “Happy are you if you act upon
it” applies to all of the sayings of Jesus. Change comes
to you, your church, your family, when you ‘act upon
it…’ As
you act on what you know, don’t fall into the trap of dwelling
on what God is not doing instead of concentrating on what God is
accomplishing. This is how the devil trips up many believers and
robs them of God’s peace (Isa. 26:3). Stay positive, speak
positive and don’t judge what you do not understand (Proverbs
3:5).
B.
STALKING GOD... Stalkers break the law and when arrested are given time in jail.
When one begins to be a stalker after God you
are also given time, time with God that is so sweet you’ll
wonder why you took so long to seek Him. And an amazing thing starts
to happen…you sense you’re on the inside with God,
as if you know a secret that no one else knows. It produces a wonderful
inner peace that only the Lord Jesus can bring. Those who have
this deep communion with the Lord Jesus know things in the Spirit
that casual seekers do not know (1 Cor. 2:10). Ever walk into a
room and (inwardly) you have this secret that no one else has?
This was how Jesus lived constantly…so should we. The strength
is in the secret. In the secret place old habits drop off like
dust, victory is at hand, joy is an abiding thing, divine direction
comes easily and you encourage others instead of needing encouragement
C.
BROKENNESS RESULTS… When I say secretly seek Him, I
am not referring to any kind of elitism, carnal pride or self serving
individualism that even hints of a 'better than you attitude.'
The opposite is true, because it will in fact produce great humility.
Some men need to be broken like a horse (Ps. 37:9). The first step
to successfully be a ‘doer’ is an 'I mean business
attitude' with God. There are good secrets and there are bad secrets.
This is a very, very good secret. Man believes he has come a long
way and works very hard to discover unknown things that are hidden.
Yet, there is a way to discover all secrets if only one would be
a stalker of the secret God…. The Lord Jesus said I am the
Way. That word way literally means ‘a road or path you
travel’ (but
more importantly) it carries with it this definition, ‘particular
conduct along with a certain way of feeling, thinking and deciding.’ Psalm
91 talks about this secret place, “He who dwells in the
secret place of the most high…” He who finds this place will
be broken. Brokenness means you want nothing but Him. All your
hopes, your dreams and ambitions are in His hands.
D.
KNOWING OR DOING… The key to doing what you
know (John
13:17) is doing the secret thing. If you’re serious
about truly experiencing the joy of being a child of God you must
develop
a plan for a (top secret) covert operation to stalk Him in a private
place. Secret is important. After you have just been in the secret
place, tell no one, to avoid others from thinking how ‘spiritual
you are.’ God will know (Matthew. 6:6).
Oh yes, spontaneous prayer is good. Praying always is good (1
Thess. 5:17). But in
this case the value is found in the secret plan between you and
the Master. Plan it as if your spiritual life depended on it, because
it does and (in the beginning) the enemy will fight you tooth and
nail. The devil will say, “Don’t be so fanatical, God
loves you anyway you are.” Yes, God does love you, but there
is more, there is experiencing that love (John 14:21).
Imagine someone holding a weapon at you head and telling you to
get up
tomorrow at 4 AM and meet him at a certain place. This, dear friend
is the attitude you must have. God is not holding a gun to your
head but His heart is extended to you… and indescribable
blessings await you if this plan is carried out (Read
Ps. 1). It’s
as if you were a secret agent pursuing an enemy unaware except
this person is not a foe but a wonderful loving Friend (Proverbs
18:24). Again, your attitude must be one of complete secrecy
between no one but Jesus and yourself. Knowing this alone will
not help
you, only doing it will produce fruit (Gal. 5:22).
Often I refer to Him as the God who waits… Why? Because many
children of God endlessly ponder and try to figure out why they
are in the
predicament they are in, instead of going to the Master for Him
and Him alone. Yes, He will answer your prayer, “but,
seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these
things
will be added unto you…” (Matthew 6:33).
Look up, Someone is waiting for you…

6:6
